Good day all.

I'm new to this site and this is my first post. I'm from south africa. And enjoy shooting my 303. My barrel is stuffed now, i have tried bullet after bullet after bullet, shooting ladders. But alas, I can't get it to group better than 3" at 100m. I am now looking at creating a wildcat cartridge with the action (No4 Mk2). The end result will be a 444 Marlin case necked down to a 35 Whelen (cut the bottom of a 35 whelen die set down by 4.85mm).

I've attached my drawings as a pic.

Will this work? If there is some gunsmiths that can comment, and tell me what is wrong with my idea (except that it will cost too much, because i really want a wildcat and it will be a project rifle, used for the bush), I will really appreciate it. Will this cartridge feed from a Enfield magazine?

Thanks guys
Denis

Thank you Brandon, I appreciate the friendly welcome.  You guys still cold there in Canada? Or is it getting warmer?

.444 Marlin is nicer than 45/70 because of he rim diameter I'm told.

We had a late spring but already have had a 29C day. The next week is 15-20C. Perfect for planting the garden!
