There were a lot of the DCRA no4 7.62 rifles in Canada. Now that they
have become collectable, you don't see them as much. I started collecting them along with the Costal Ranger Winchester 94 rifles many years ago. I have a no4 sniper in the box that was converted to 7.62. It is a 1944 BSA Shirley M47C Lee Enfield No 4 Mk1 TR S51 wood Scope is William Watson No32 Mk1 1942 No 1960 OS 466A Mount is un numbered except for ring #A76 and #A77 |

Can I use a 7.62 follower and spring assembly in the std mk4 magazine?

A Sterling one will fit. An Enfield one will not ( the ribbon spring is too wide for the .303 magazine box).

If you go to the milsurps.com site, and into the Lee Enfield knowledge library collectors forum, look for a thread "Happened upon an interesting No 4 last weekend"; post #14 has picture of a .303 magazine with an insert to single stack 7.62 rounds - this might be an alternative for you.

The bolt head appears to have a shoulder around the edge; I find that odd; Why is that necessary? The bolt head for the L39A1 in 7,62 is flat, same as the .303 appart from the extractor claw.
I would have thought if it's been re-barrelled they could fit the barrel chamber to suit the position of the original bolt head. Who made this conversion?

it was done by an Italian gunsmith here in South Africa Cape Town.It feeds and extracts 100%.Musgrave semi-bull barrel.
Look...I baught it as is and it works 100%,so why change something that works.

I'll keep a look out for a mag. They are rare, but sometimes we can get lucky!
