Proper #4 scope mounts completed!

CNC mill is running the top side of the No. 4 mounts as I type this!

Cycle time is much slower than I had hoped,  my heavy duty machine is really made for doing large parts, not these small bits.

In order to control cost and keep this a practical project I had to make some decisions limiting the number of variations. 

There will be two variations, models available for both the No. 1 and No. 4 receivers. 

They are designed to work with sporters or original wood.

Picatinny rail spacing and profile.

"U" notch allows the rail to remain in place while using original sights.

Ending at the charger guide allows an original vernier rear sight to remain in place.

Just one medium length, 5.8" long, running from the aft side of the charger guide to a little forward of the receiver.

This should be enough for almost any normal scope, and more than needed for short red-dot type sights.

Forward end is undercut to clear original wood.

Designed to try to be a direct replacement for the old Weaver bases.

.400" spread between the forward mounting holes like the Weavers.

The main problem we are seeing for replacement is that many times the Weaver bases were poorly mounted. 

As a result we cannot guarantee these will always replace them as our mount is too rigid to easily "Fudge" the mounting holes.

Instead of the early version 1/16" roll pin at the rear the new No. 4 design uses a screw and wedge against the charger guide.

The No. 1 will use a third mounting hole, similar to the old Weaver, since the charger guide is thick enough to be drilled and tapped.

Black hard anodize finish over 6061 aluminum.

Hoping to have some finished units in hand by the middle of next week.

It looks like the No.1 may be a little less expensive than the No. 4 as it needs fewer parts made.
