There are no 'cloth' slings for the SMLE, only webbing and leather. Both versions are correct for use during WW1. Its a case of personal choice, for the webbing sling was first accepted into British service in 1901, although the leather sling was on standard issue at that time. As stocks of the new item became available in quantity..  new battalions were issued first, then older battalions as stocks became available.
 
Both versions can be seen used in the same battalions at the same time... right up until armistice.
This is MY rifle, there are many like, but this one... is MINE!
