Here's the links

Interesting story, although some of the "fact's" seem more like speculation.

EAL rifles were NOT made by Long Branch. They were made by a private firm in Toronto from parts purchased from Canadian Arsenals. The entire machining procedure was done in downtown TO... The correct scope mount is a Parker Hale 29A mount and PH rings. Scopes were TASCO and purchased by the Canadian government: best price and warranty in the business at the time. Ya I don't doubt that part A Square.  The part I think is a little fetched is the claim they are "brand new rifles"
I'm sure if CA had a tonne of left over actions they would have done the same thing faz did and make a sh*t load of No4 Mk II's.  I suspect they did have some surplus actions and odds and ends, but I'm sure some of the rifle were re-worked No4 MkI's that weren't worth overhualing.  But since EAL was maching down the actions and fitting new barrels then they would be more then adequate for them.

The chopped top receivers look like a way to make use of the occasional find of an otherwise good action body that has had one or both sides of the issue rear sight mount broken away or its pin hole wallowed out.
Not sure I like the idea of removing all that metal though, the extra bulk is one advantage the No.4 has over the No.1. The strength of the lock up is unlikely to have been compromised, but the reduced bulk could possibly result in more action spring, with resulting Bullet Throw/Drill  like that of the No.1.
Be interesting to find out if theres much if any offset to the front sight or rear sight to adjust for drill.

i have a S no4 mk1* serial# 50c5892 B,now what is strange about this rifle,it looks just like the EAL,almost exactly,except it is stamped U.S. Property,and has no canadian markings.
before i purchased this rifle, someone mounted a Williams peep sight on it,the front sight is a ramp type ,with blade type post sight, this rifle does not seem to have been sporterized, except for light, and dark colorization on the stock.
does anyone have any idea of the origin of this rifle?
i do not have access to a camera at this time, but will try to get some pictures to post.
thanks

From the information it sounds like a home made sporter conversion.
Any Savage with U.S PROPERTY marks was lease-lend to the UK during WW2 & so a military full stocked rifle at one point.

yes,i know it sounds like a sporter, but it looks so much like the EAL,i also have a S No4Mk1*,it is also stamped US Property, and is 3 1/4inches longer(the barrel) than the other EAL looking rifle, also it has the ears for the flip,or latter rear sight, and bridge across the top of receiver ,which the EAL rifle does not,i guess i just have to wait until i can post some pic's.
i thank u for your imput
also, the little ear in front of the bolt slide that holds the end of bolt in place,is kind of warn down,is there any place to have it rebuilt?.
thanks to everyone!.
