Yes, it certainly looks that way through my rifle!

In reply to 303Guy - I polished my brass up for 2 reasons - Firstly and mainly because it makes it easier to check for and see any stress marks after firing, and secondly for no other reason than the fact that I had some spare time on my hands so I decided to make them "look nice"!Wink
It's a shame that polishing them doesn't help me to shoot them any straighter, but you can't have everything I guess!LOLLOLLOL
Wounding is not an option!

I suspect that polishing brass will actually extend case life in some instances.  It may even contribute to slightly better accuracy, again in some instances.  The theory is that polished brass has a more consistent chamber wall grip than dirty brass which may have varying surface friction coefficients mostly much higher, causing the case to jump back at different pressure levels (or worse, fail at the web junction) which would have an effect on barrel harmonics.  Anyway, they do look better.LOL

What are you planing to hunt? If you are concerned about barrel life, keep the velocity down and raise your killing energy with a heavier projectile. At 2400 fps and 150 grain bullet, you're knocking back a muzzle energy of 1900 ft-lbs. With a 180 grain at the same velocity you are looking at 2300 ft-lbs. If you want to approach 2300 ft-lbs with 150 grain projectile you will need to raise your velocity to something like 2650 fps. That is extra wear and tear on the rifling.

I just notice you were look for powder ideas, I use 33 grains of H-335 with 185 grain gas check cast bullet, and 37.5 grains of IMR-4895 with 205 grain gas check cast bullet. My concern is to run with a velocity around 2000 fps. At that velocity that 205 grain bullet, delivers a muzzle energy of about 1700 ft-lbs,  I've found that is more than enough to take down a whitetail, with a well placed shoot in its boiler room.
