Went to the Chantilly, VA gunshow & saw 2 .22 SMLE trainers.
One was a non matching bolt (no serial number, it had been ground off), with a sleeved barrel for $350. I don't recall any other one quite like it where the barrel had been sleeved the tip of the tube was about 1/4" proud of the original muzzle & there was a hex nut clamping it in place?

The other was a dedicated 1918 BSA but they wanted $1,200.oo for it. Too rich for my blood.

The one with the hex nut, there are kits nowadays that use a hex nut at the front to convert a .303 to a .22 with a liner. Kind of sounds like one of those.

Sounds like the USA may be catching up with European prices for the rarer stuff!

I'm not sure on the tubed one. Once I saw the ground off bolt serial number I lost interest. "Morriss tube" comes to mind for the sleeved barrels IIRC.
