Slowly but surely I am making a home. Been very busy with work and the house so that explains my absence. The roof is sealed up now, with no leaks in the pouring rain, and I am still working on the plumbing. I at least have the propane for winter contracted and paid, I just hope it is enough. I have shot 12 gophers in my front yard now with 3 misses. So, I am 12 for 15 with my Remington 514 single shot. I am doing well, loving my lot in life and drinking a lot of coffee out of the mug that Zed sent me. All is going well here.

Yes, I did. They have one heck of a network of tunnels though so it's taking time but they are thinning out.

If you stuff a dead one in the hole - they abandon that particular network.

I did not know that. I wonder if it works with moles too? Guess I'll have to try it.

I've seen gophers absolutely go mental and cannibalize a fallen friend! Insane! Like shark week!... only with rodents!

We had some lads up from Louisiana working at the plant a few years ago. They couldn't believe the amount of gophers running around. Without a word of lie, they asked us if they were good eating!

On Sunday I finished running the plumbing for the cold water to the bathroom. I tested it out and found the bathroom has great water pressure. Downside is I had to shut it down. Of all the pipe I ran and fittings I installed I have one T that is leaking. I feel proud in that only one is leaking but still bummed I have to redo that one. Still, I am close to having the cold water side all done and then on to the hot water side. I am getting tired of heating water on the stove. On another note, I shot gopher number 14 in my yard tonight. I am getting quite accustomed to my single shot .22. A friend of mine has started calling me Sure Shot Shea since in 14 gophers I have used 17 rounds. I can say I am truly enjoying myself out here.

Yeah, the winter is one thing I am worried about as we tend to get quite a bit of snow. A tractor with a loader did come with the place, I just have to get it fired up and tuned up so hopefully I will be able to keep the driveway clear.

Pretty much in the middle of nowhere in NE South Dakota I live about 6 miles from a small town called Doland. Google it and you will see what I mean. My intention is for this to be where I retire. It is so very peaceful.
