The arsenal refurbished stock I purchased from Numrich did not fare well yesterday. Too much repair work was done to it and it literally fell apart on me last night. The wood kept splintering off when I sanded a section. I took the No4 nose cap and made it a permanent fixture on the actual No5 stock. Put everything back together and I now have a rifle that looks like it was purposely built from the Fazackerley plant this way,to me anyways.
I'm putting a 3-9x50 scope on it next week. The shiny stuff on the wood is Hoppes gun oil... |

Wow that sucks.
Glad you had the original to revert to. |

Minwax Red Mahogany stain, let that penetrate, wipe off the excess, and let it dry for 48 hours. Three coats of Minwax polyurethane semi gloss clear coat, using #0000 steel wool between coats. After letting all that dry for 72 hours,I took a small mixture of Mother's Mag wheel polish and Turtle Wax,and rubbed it on the wood with the #0000 steel wool. Wiped it off and there ya go. It's shiny in the photos because I had just wiped it down with some Hoppes gun oil... |

My girlfriend said that it looks just like the,"gun" her dad had, that her brother currently owns. I asked if she could get her brother to text me a picture of it,thinking Holy Canoli, there's another No5 and it's close at hand. That was to be very short lived. He sent me a photo of his very nice looking scoped, Ruger Mini14 ranch rifle.
