What makes a Parker Hale Enfield,a Parker Hale Enfield?
Months ago i originally started with just a receiver and started a custom rifle project. You've all seen it,the rifle with the yellow colored Boyd's laminated stock and the Parker Hale scope mount. Well, I found a Parker Hale barrel. Side note: Someone used a pipe wrench on it. I filed and sanded the marks out as best I could and put it on the receiver and then swapped the Boyd's stock for the ATI stock which is a copy of a Parker Hale Supreme stock. So,now, since I have a rifle with a Parker Hale scope mount, Parker Hale barrel, and a synthetic version of a Sile stock, and I contoured the receiver to a Parker Hale receiver, would this now be considered a Parker Hale Enfield or,is it still a mutt?
I know that I put this together, just curious though...

Well Goosic. In my humble opinion... The parts you used for this rifle make it a Parker Hale. The knowledge, precision of work you have exhibited since I've been a member make it a Parker Hale+. If Ford sent me a truck load of 1968 Mustang parts, everything included, and I put it together, would it not be a Ford Mustang?

Parker-Hale is a bit like Fultons of Bisley. It's a a unique blend of tradition, service like you wouldn't believe, Quality of product & massive experience. Gibbs Rifle Co. now owns all the Parker hale left overs & name, bu its not the same.

I was lucky growing up in Bristol, UK, about 3 blocks from the original F.W. Gibbs & sons rifle Co (not the US knock off) now George Gibbs rifle co.

http://www.gibbsgunmakers.com/

For all the hype about the classic British bespoke gun makers (Gibbs, Hollland & Holland, Purdey & so on) they were very pleasant places to visit, nowhere as snobbish as people would have you believe.

I would wander into the long, narrow store under a tram line & be utterly flabbergasted by the staff all wearing those  yellow & black striped vests. Behind them were subtly-lit walnut (I guess) showcases with unimaginable rifles sitting on green velvet. Her I was this 18 year old scruffy Oike buying a box of .22RF Eley tenex.

You know I git the same level of service the high rollers got.Thumbs Up

You have some serious standards to live up to, but I feel you are up for it.

Not to go off topic, but I also had a Mustang. 1969 coupe, 390, Holly 750 carb with auto shift on the floor. Do 120mph with a quarter inch of peddle left. By then the front end was floating. You do have a great Sporter. Oldhand

Goosic it would be a replica Parker Hale made using original parts.
The serial number would not appear in their records so it could not be original even if it's as good.

There are many brand new "old " race car's being used today in historic racing. They are allowed in as exact drawing room copies! But no one would say they were original!
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

I'd call it a Parker Hale. Nice looking rifle.
