i see where your thinking that but im hoping better heads prevail ,
communism has never "worked" anywhere it has been tried but they have disarmed more than a few populations in history , then killed off the intelligent , the active , the outspoken , to the point that they only had the silent lambs every where it has been tried , the nazi gun confiscations did succeed in facilitating WWII , so im not in favor of any extremist group , its not just here in north america or there in europe and asia , we see this repeating itself over and over in south america dont we ? iwonder how many north koreans own private guns ? |

Yesterday I got a "Proof of Purpose" demand in the mail from the Chief Firearm's Officer. I contacted my gun club and it seems my range membership renewal didn't get processed because I made a mistake on the cheque. They were remiss in not letting me know sooner. I post this to remind you that the RCMP oversight activity seems have been increased. Based on the experience of 41 years in the public service this means orders have come down from on high. Make sure you are squeaky clean. The Liberals are playing a sneaky game. They would love to announce that there has been a significant spike in non-compliance with the regulations.

Macd... This stuff you talk about is happening now? I didn't think Goodalls preposals had even came into effect yet.

They extended everyone's validity date by 6 months in November. Called it a grace period for renewals. My guess it was to allow time for the enhanced checks they just announced. They used 2013 to compare to 2016 gun homicides to justify new rules. The truth is 2013 was an exceptionally low year. Using a proper 10 year analysis and the changes are marginal. The increase is all in urban areas where the gangs have an increasingly strong presence. |

When I renew my PAL, they've always given notice via mail about six months in advance. I fill it out and mail it that day. I think this last time I did it online and paid by credit card. This was last summer. Two weeks later, I had my new PAL.

I'm curious to these advanced checks. How can they legally go into someone's medical files, or do they? I'd be very surprised with Canada's privacy laws if this was allowed. And if allowed, I'd be more surprised someone hasn't challenged it in court. Just my thoughts.

Macd. I'm a bit confused. What is proof of purchase? And how is your gun club membership involved? Thanks.

its his need to own , he has to prove he has a purpose to own it as in target shooting or hunting in a qualified program compliant with current restrictions and compliant to current laws ,
its why we have a second amendment so the government cannot restrict our ownership and use - except some liberals have circumvented that with nuances of reading of the law , this is being scrutinized carefully daily and i believe the constitution wins , it all goes back to those days when we were colonies and the british empire took our gun from us to prevent rebellion , we didn't take to that well , i doubt we ever will ,

Its the same in the U.K. your membership in & scheduled attendance at a recognized club is proof of a reason to need.

once you've got the "reason" issue put to bed - you still hafta jump thru their hoops.
Transport permits, twixt certain hours, in approved, locked containers. Method of transport...plus - the dues to belong to a recognized club have gone thru the roof. I had a b/p navy colt years back, & decided it just wasn't worth the trouble |

Proof of Purpose is as "A" Square explained. The CFO for your province can demand membership lists and the sign-in registers for your club or range to confirm your membership and use. You apply to be deemed a collector (no range or club membership required) and still get an ATT to a range that allows pay-as-you shoot visitors.
