If like I did, you think of the Santa Fe mags as being 5-rounders, you may be cheating yourself! Someone referred to his Santa Fe as a 7-round mag! Fascinated I took my "5-Round magazine" & slipped 7 rounds into it comfortably!
Clap
D'uhh! N'err!

I never thought to try more than four.

So did I!
Confused
I have no idea if they're all 7-rounders, or like the Indian 7.62 Enfields where they seem to vary between 9 & 12 rounders!

Well I have three new in the wrappers and one used I might pull two out and check that but I hesitate to over load a magazine.

It didn't feel like I was doing that, there was still some jiggle with all 7 in.

My Dad's No4 sporterized Lee Enfield had a Parker Hale front site and a 5 round Parker Hale magazine made in Japan. 7 rounds fit in it easy. Never had more than 3 in it and one in the pipe. If I haven't hit the venison with the first two, I stopped shooting. Funny thing. When I had a .243 Remington 700 with an internal mag, I only put two in it and one in the pipe. Hated unloading it. Same reason I'm not a big fan of 30/30 lever rifles.

I think that was a Santa Fe? I don't know of any P-H mags made in Japan. Did it have the flat, sheet bottom?

I gave that beauty away to my nephew (who never got to meet my Dad) a few years ago. The magazine looked exactly like the one above, but instead of Santa Fe it said Parker-Hale. Same font.

It actually had the same "shield" around the P-H name.

If!!! I wanted more than five rounds I would just use the proper ten round magazine. If you can fit seven or more rounds so can the game warden! Bugger you then.

Take a nice, slow, deep, breath or 10 there mate, no one said you HAD to do it, just that it was possible.
I absolutely WILL use it any time I go into NYS! Its "fully Compliant" with Mini-Mario's ludicrous SAFE act 7-round capacity limit!

"The Act included a high-capacity magazine provision that has been found unconstitutional.[14] According to that language, beginning on April 15, 2013, only magazines with a capacity of seven rounds could legally be sold in New York.[11] The Act allowed the continued possession of ten-round magazines purchased before that date, but made it illegal to load more than seven rounds of ammunition into a ten-round magazine except "at an incorporated firing range or competition recognized by the National Rifle Association or International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association.""
My emphasis.

I remember in Canada when the gun laws changed restricting high powered rifles to a magazine limit of five came into effect. The Lee Enfield was specifically exempt. I believe it still is. I sometimes put 7 or eight in my magazine while hunting. Not that I'll use them all at once, but it beats carrying spares in my pocket.

Louisiana has no limit on magazine size for rifles !  Son in Law checked for when he could not find my five round AR mag for him to hunt , the Wild life and fisheries said he could use a 30 rounder if he wanted to , but after using one he said it was more in the way , so he bought his own small capacity mag for his AR !!
