bo less crime than here 0- just different weapons ,
"....An Australian state has asked citizens to surrender machetes at disposal bins ahead of a statewide ban on the weapons aimed at combating knife crime. Australia’s state of Victoria on Thursday announced that more than 40 machete disposal bins will be available at police stations across the state to allow citizens to safely get rid of the weapons without a penalty before the Sept. 1 ban begins. "Owning, carrying, using, buying, or selling a machete without a valid exemption or approval will be a criminal offense," the Victorian government said in a statement.,,,,,,," so my question is why do they look at us as the uncivilized and unruly ? we might still be the wild west in many ways but please dont pretend your so civilized just because your older " |

They should have bins especially for the Criminals to drop their knives and machete's.
What they are doing is disarming the honest hard-working public! Totally unnecessary, unless they want to reduce the population to total subservience!

In North Carolina we drop criminals in the bins or in the woods.
Coyotes have to eat too. |

From some Australian sources: There's a huge wave of criminal attacks, mostly with machetes or similar large knives. Its about (wait for it) Tobacco licensing & taxation. Most of it is between rival immigrant smuggling gangs having ongoing turf wars. "Where
there's smoke, there's firebombing - that's now an unwelcome reality
for tobacconists, predominantly in Victoria, but increasingly elsewhere
around the country too.
In the last 18 months, as many as 200 shops have been destroyed as criminals try to wrest control of the lucrative illegal tobacco market. What's worrying though is not only the level of violence, but why this thuggery started in the first place. As Nick McKenzie reports in this joint 60 Minutes, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald investigation, by taxing cigarettes so exorbitantly in an attempt to stop people smoking, the federal government has inadvertently created a thriving black market worth $5 billion a year. The changes to the tobacco excise are designed to encourage smokers to quit. We're taking decisive action to end the trade of illicit tobacco with $188.5 million to the Australian Border Force (ABF). The ABF is working closely with the states and territories who are increasing compliance and cracking down on the organised crime networks that profit from the illicit tobacco black market. Record levels of illicit tobacco are being targeted and seized at our borders and prosecutions are taking place. After a decade of delay and inaction from the Liberals, the gains of Labor's world-leading plain packaging reforms had been squandered and the poorest and most marginalised Australians have paid the price." https://reason.com/2024/06/17/the-deadly-tobacco-drug-war-down-under/ |

Why not ban machetes in Oz? They've banned harsh words in England.
Meanwhile here in the U.S. President Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act' removed the $200 Federal Transfer Tax from Suppressors and short barreled rifles and shotguns. It's such a refreshing change to see government getting off our backs, if even a little.

great points all , in direct conflict with the nonsensical government moves elsewhere , adjust symptoms not remedy the cause ...
"...What's worrying though is not only the level of violence, but why this thuggery started in the first place. ...." go after the source of the problem not the incidentals that mean nothing in the big picture , the erps will just use something else if they dont have the tool of choice - its not the weapon weilded , its the person weilded stupid

The problem with ban on machetes is that these Sudanese immigrants to australia and specifically Melbourne is that they getting away with the crimes of killing one and other ,either with machetes of physical crimes .
I had to buy a machete for clearing small saplings on hte block several years ago in New south wales and had to go to an outdoor store to get one and show a ID to purchase. The ban has thrown the whole selling bayonets and knives in different states much harder for collectors .

It'll only get worse in both countries as long as those in power legislate against the objects, all of which are inert, instead of the perpetrators who use them.

The one thing i will say about those who commit those crimes are caught in australia and are dealt with. There is talk of deporting the entire families of these people who commit the Crimes.

"The run was called in by a citizen who was in the cemetery visiting a
loved one," said Detroit Police Capt. Marcus Thirkill. "The individual
who contacted the Detroit Police Department indicated there was someone
deceased inside the cemetery." Did he really say that with a strait face?
