Most of you are aware that I converted my No5MkI to fire the 7.62x51 NATO cartridge. I have been having a slight issue with my Sierra TMK and Hornady HPBT chambering correctly. The tips of the bullets will sometimes hit the face of the chamber, not fully aligning with the chamber.
The solution to this was for me to purchase the Nosler 150grn BST bullets. Following my Norma manual and maintaining the 2.800" OAL as listed, the cycling and chambering issue no longer exists. I will do a test and tune this coming Wednesday to address any accuracy issues I may encounter. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This the issue I have when attempting to chamber a pointy bullet. No issue with the round nose bullet...

I’ve not had a problem feeding 150 and 168 grain Sierra MatchKings but not tried the TMK.
I wonder if bending the left side front mag lip down/right just a bit would fix it, but I suspect you already tried that. That Nosler is a strange looking bullet. I’m using a repro Ishapore 7.62 mag, it feeds OK, but cannot get all 10 round in (only 9) ang get the mag to seat. The receiver would have to be relieved along the lower edges in the mag well to account for the larger case diameter at the shoulder and I can’t bring myself to grind on the No. 4 Mk 2 receiver. |

The magazine has been worked and fitted to this receiver which is the other reason the current setup is functioning as it should. This Nosler is also used for a 30-30.
