hey all--I inherited my grandfather's old enfield, but he passed away while I was very young so I never got a chance to ask him about it. recently got into guns/shooting so trying to figure out what I have now. seems to be some sporterized enfield.  is there any way to attach a scope to this for hunting?

It's actually a British made, Peddled scheme rifle.
The SSA stamp at the left rear of the receiver shows us that it was built by Standard Small Arms. This is one of two assembly plants. Parts were supplied by other manufacturing plants, but they did not stamp their name on the wrist.
It looks to be in good condition, but had been sportered.
Nice to have a family owned example. Enjoy it!

With a 1918 date it would be either SSA or NRF stamped on the left rear of the receiver. NRF is National Rifle Factory and is what SSA became after the government took them over for not making quotas.

Enlarging the third photo, looks like SSA. Which is same as my 1918 Peddled scheme rifle. ( Although mine was converted to .22 after the war

I've bought two scope mounts from Addley Precision in Ontario, Canada.  Very happy with them.
