My coworker was in Guelph last week for some sort of martial arts training. He has never been North before and reports that the Canadians were very nice and helpful.

Hoadie, how long can you guys pull this off before the rest of the world catches on that it's all a trick to lull us in to complacency??

Actually - we're tryin to lure 'em back.Ever since we gave 'em a bop on the snoot durin war of 1812, they bin wary. But they're startin to come back.(Once we get enough of 'em here, we'll just call "GAME ON !!" & do it all over again!)

I'm not sure it was the Brits, Hoadie, wasn't there extensive use of Indigenous Peoples as troops?

As cannon foddermaybe.Thats about all. You gotta remember what it was like socially in North America, back then.
Both Canada & U.S. would find ways to avoid serving with "Indians" Yes-there were some, but it wasn't as easy for them to enlist as the white man.The ones that did get in - seemed to have made an impact, though.

Hoadie, the Cree were who I was thinking of...

I'm like you in that I can have great arguments with myself- I have Scotch-Irish  Cherokee and German from mum, and German-German Polish from dad. i can make jokes about myself, then get drunk and fight about it!

Yeah hear ya there Ed! Cree/French on Mum's side, English/Irish on Dad's.I go to the pub & the english & Irish in me feed the Cree just enough firewater to convince him to help conspire to get rid of the Frenchman! I usually find that the Limey always has a plan, the Irish is ALWAYS up fer a dust-up, & the Cree sits quietly watching the Frenchman pull the tables & chairs into a circle!!

Well, now that I've had the northern property goin on 3 years - I've compiled a list of 10 of the things I DON'T like to hear up there..
10: "How long did you say it takes to get to a hospital from here?" Stupid bugger near bled to death!
9: Do you get 9-1-1 service out here? (which ties in with..)
8: Will 9-1-1- respond this far out?
7: Hey - I thought I heard a scream just before I shot.
6: DIESEL!? Waddya mean it only takes diesel??!! Why don't people tell these things?!..
5: I didn't think we need a licence out here...
4: Hey! Will someone PLEASE get this bear off me!!!?
(which ties with..)
4b: Drop the berries you idiot!!! Drop the berries!!
3: I dunno..next thing I knew, the whole clearing was on fire..
2: By the way-do you have liability insurance on this place?
#1: Oh-Oh! Hoadie aint gonna like THIS!!

& people wonder why I drink...
