I don't know how well understood the U.S. Presidential election is understood over there. Many over here don't quite get it & it's their country!

Unlike the U.K. where you vote for a party &the leader of that party is PM its a multi-stage process here.
There's a vote, much as we'd understand it in the UK, but then there's a separate part of the process unlike anything British. your votes give a "win" at STATE level. Each state has a calculated number of "delegates", Your votes, county by county elect individual delegates for that area. You can have some delegated from different countys  elected for different partys. Depending on the individual state laws they are either appointed on a pro-rated basis, or its "winner take all".

Those delegates now vote & the resulting total of the delegates from all states decides who actually wins. The delegates are supposed to vote for those who "elected" them's choice, but some choose not to. There are penalties for doing it but it sometimes happens.

The purpose is to distribute the votes non linearly. A process not needed in the U.K because of geographical differences.

What happened here (& the cause of much whining) is that the popular vote (what you'd thing of as "The Vote" in the UK 10,000, for "Fred the Labour Party Candidate" & 10,0500 for "Jane The Conservative" one) was reversed by the pool of delegates. The result being 780 electoral for Jane, but 755 for Fred. Its a way of giving big, but small population states a more equal say than places like New York, which is small, by heavily populated.

It perfectly legal, & has been since the 18 something or others, but suddenly the butt hurt lot want it reversed because they were (somehow) "cheated".

My personal opinion is Donald will be good for us all.  He appears open and blunt says what he thinks and genuinely wants to safeguard world peace. He's said the UK will get a good deal when we pull out of the EU and has already started to shut down OH! Bummer care which I know many of you detest. Oh Bummer doesn't like the uk and what it stands for, he proved that by chucking the Bust of Winston Churchill out of the office and the final insult was ringing Angle Grinder Merkel as he walked out the door. His roots are suspect and his dislike of the uk possibly stems from his links with Kenya and dare I say the Mau Mau politics during the 1950s.
  1 question I would like to ask is did he provide a birth certificate proving he's a US citizen?
