Hi all,
I'm a new member to the forum and I just wanted to show off my rifles. Looking forward to learning more about enfields. I've got 4 to start with but I'm always browsing gunbroker hoping to find a deal and add to my collection.  Top is a sporterized by Long Branch No4 Mk1* I'm not really sure what the next one down is. The scope mount is covering it up. Then I have a Lithgow No1 Mk3* And the bottom I believe is one of the Irish Enfields No4 Mk2 (F) Have a good night everyone. |

It's a 1945. I cant find too many markings, I'm wondering if it was a refurbished rifle? Probably a rebuild of some sort.
Besides a couple tiny safe dings in the stock and some slight wear on the bolt from working the action; the rifle was in unissued condition until I loaded up the magazine and shot 10 rounds through her.

nice FAZ mk2 , not at all questioning the veracity of the claim ".. one of the Irish Enfields No4 Mk2 (F).." just wondering how you arrived at the conclusion ? the contract rifles covered a very large section of production and only a very few fell into that serial range , |

And no worries, I've got thick skin either way. I'm not very educated on Lee Enfield's, most of my information just comes from google. But, in this case the rifle falls within the serial numbers people have been posting. I'm not sure if that's enough to authenticate the rifle as being an Irish contract. But, I hope it is authentic. Either way, I'm happy to own it. I'm posting an image to it's serial number. Maybe someone can confirm it.  |

Ive been seening claims that they are serial range PF309348 to PF359347 and 1955 was the last year for them.

everone here knows me well enough to attest no ill intent but thanks for the added info ,
there were at least 15 contracts im aware of , IIRC the irish was 50k - the largest of all of them , from PF 300348 to PF 359347 , i might be off a little just going by notes , the smallest was hong kong at 10 rifles , mine fell in the burma - second largest at just over 39k ,

Sorry if I sounded harsh in regards to the my post in regards to "Irish Contract" Lee Enfields. To the more learned members, this contact amounted to how many rifles being produced? I agree with Zed on the Parker Hale. The recoil pad looks a little ill fitted, and I'm curious as to what appears to be some kind of aluminum block fitted under the front bell of the scope? With some TLC, that Sporter could look really nice!

It looks as if 3 out of the 4 rifles have 'aluminium blocks' with a label stuck on, to angle the rifle for getting better pictures. (Note correct spelling of Aluminium - Aluminium was named after alum, which is called 'alumen' in Latin. This name was given by Humphry Davy, an English chemist in 1808) to be in keeping with other elements such as potassium and sodium).
