No5 Buttstock Question

A question for those in the know here. Why is the rear sling bar on the right (or should I say wrong?) side of the rifle? I've gotten a response from fellow owner telling me it was so it could carried much like an M4 carbine. I am not inclined to believe that one. Anyone?

So it can be carried on the left shoulder :
