The govt doesn’t care how much it pays for the buy back. It’s your money they are using, not theirs. It’s not about the cost.
Once they are banned, they are gone for good. I wouldn’t celebrate the win fall. And don’t think it will stop there, it never does. I shudder to think of what will happen in this country when they try and take AR15s.

I see that Justin Trudeau has been talking with our PM Jacinda. I hope that she has advised him on how our buy-back worked so at least you Canadians are not left out of pocket on the values of your rifles and accesories.
In my experience (& as having a political science degree) I wouldn't rely on a change of government reversing the process, politicians commonly say they will but then when the get elected into power they suddenly have no back-bone and come up with 1000 excuses why they can't do it. What happened here was that a few fringe elements came out and made all sorts of wierd claims that tended to tar all honest fire arm owners as being as loony as they were. Suddenly carrying a rifle to go hunting legally started getting Joe Public all worried and calling for SWAT teams as if you were some sort of mass shooting gunman. Heck if you have a bit of a collection (10 plus of something such as Lee Enfields) you are probably going to be looked at sideways and asked to explain why and show you have good storage security. |

Tru-dope has put the AR - 15 (& it's various derivitives) on the banned list. To my knowledge - maybe I'm wrong -(once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken), no crime in Canada has been committed by a licenced AR-15 owner with an AR-15.
They see what has happened Stateside, and use that as their point. Hopefully, the Conservatives will regain power, & repeal the laws like they did before. I don't own an AR-15, so I have no stake in this fight (yet). I have 2 SKS in my locker...don't want to give without a fight..a DAMN GOOD FIGHT |

Read the complete ruling. You can still own it but you can never use it and that includes leaving the house to have it deactivated. Catch 22...

Give them he!! and fight for your Children rights.
I want my kids to have more rights than me. Screw them and the mule who rode in on them. If y'll need help writing letters to the government please let me know. My Wife is Scottish and has a master in use of the written word. She works for a Law office. She can shoot her FN-FAL with pride. Not a great fan of my Ross rifle. |

Paddy: You got a Ross? If you DO value your wife..don't let her shoot the Ross.
I don't care what the pundits say..it's a danger to the shooter.(Beacause of the complicated bolt, mostly). I still hear that old sweat's voice telling me about the guy beside him in Niagara On The Lake training in WWI. Bolt flew back & went into his head(Killing him, of course). There were alot of incidents like that with the Ross. When it worked it was deadly accurate..but like he said"It's difficult to be accurate when you roll your head to the left every time you pull the trigger." They were pretty appreciative to get them replaced with proper Enfields.! |

This legislation like the one in 1998(or96?) Is an order in council and can not be repealed, signed off by the queen.
If it was reverdable im sure the conservatives would have. Queer-deau said these rifles were designed for one purpose only, to kill people and quickly therefore they dont need to be in Canada. The mini 14 only because some psyco killed a bunch od women with one, cx4 was a design for european police forces. I still think this is all part of a united nations mandate to disarm the world population, its covert and we'd never be told out right. What our govt just did makes no sence. |

The underlying issue is crime, and our govt dosnt seem willing to amend the law to deal with that.
If you really want one of the rifles go see the mohawks over in quebec, im sure the can get what you want. Seems the get away with it. |

Mohawks in Quebec... running guns and cigarettes... Oka Standoff... BS about ancient graveyard... One RCMP shot and killed, no one charged... Mohawk Warriors holding 3 and 4 year olds in front of them during the confrontation with our military. I ask, if you are so dedicated to your cause, why wear a mask?

You don't hafta go to Quebec..you can get 'em right here. When I worked @ Newman Steel back in the 70's, the guys would put an order in for some grenades - to go fishing with. They would show up with cases!! Tried to tell 'em we only wanted 6 or so.
When they had the stand-off in Montreal (Kanesatake(?)) they had 2 1/2" machine guns on the barricade with AP ammo in the belts. The army refused to move ..for good reason!! They just run the ordanance across the river..no problem |

Not me! I want the bastard to stare me in the eyes at 12X, it's a modern version of "chicken". I will not be the one flinching. Let me tell you a little story (true one). My buddy & I were really heavy duty "Gorilla Divers" once. There was no dive we wouldn't do. We actually stood "Shark Watch" on MV Andrea Doria divers, because Mr Clarke (The man in the grey suit) was stalking them during "hangs". (decompression stops) We'd shoot the damn sharks if they circled the divers! Odd thing about Mr Clarke, if you blow his (tiny) brain out, he gets FASTER. To a "Knobby" the bran is a bit of a hindrance. It slows down the stimulus/response time. It was my only "balls to the wall" 185 Gr 7.62 load. It was maximum. You could hit them in that "vital spot" (right in front of the dorsal fin) at 25~30 FEET & they wouldn't die, but they couldn't control the rear end any more. The rest of the school would immediately attack the bleeding pack member & be kept busy as the current moved the blood trail. |

The M1A is banned. I’m surprised they didn’t ban the M1. Not much difference in these rifles.
