The abbreviation is actually RFI for Rifle Factory Ishapore and the IP stands for Ishapore Pattern. I'll have to look up the specifics of the MK I** IP as Ishapore kind of had their own thing going on with those. Hence the IP designation applied.

The year of manufacture is worn down too much for me to see it. Is there a way for me to look up the year using the serial number? Also, will these work in my rifle? |

It looks like a very clean hunting rifle.
Can you tell us what's the issue with the magazine you have? Maybe it just needs a new spring; or maybe adjustment if you have a feed problem.

others here can help more with your mag issues and yes it looks very much a great hunting rifle - one i would feel great taking to the field , as far as restoration , i would want to look more into cost vs what you intend for it in the end , you have a fine rifle
edit to add that the ammo will be just fine if its what its marked on that fine looking box , congrats
