Hey guys, just curious: what does the “FR” stand for if the markings on the left wrist read, “No1 Mk3 FR”?

Howdy y’all.

FR= Factory Repair India.
FTR =Factory Thru Repair.
Usually has a date stamp applied as well.
Cheer’s 👍

Correct.
Often mis-read or mis-heard as "through" though.
It a compete factory rebuild to 80% as new condition.
There's also some doubt as to the real meaning of "FR" & its based on where the stamp is made.
On the metal its assumed to be "Factory Repair" (an Indian version of FTR)
But on wood its taken to (probably) mean "Factory Repair", but NOT an "FTR",  but just something to be fixed that a base workshop couldn't handle.

you are correct but i think that is what he meant , just typed it short hand i suspect ,

BTW does anyone still use shorthand ? - the real stuff ? my first wife was fluent an=s was my mother , but i suspect no one today even knows of such a thing , a lost art , there was a time back in the dark ages when that was a aught class in high school , back when we used T-squares and triangles to drat with and i used a slide rule to do complicated math ....its what i learned on , i was in college when the first hand held calculators made that obsolete ,
i remember changing to the parallels bar and triangles for drafting but i had a drafting machine as well because of me engineer father , i had quit drafting altogether by the time computers took over , except for home projects ...i still use it from time to time but eyesight is failing so not much anymore ,

sorry for the tangent , it just crossed my mind

No one that I know of.
Shorthand was syllable-based, many stenographers had a very specialized & personal form of it.
A similar system was the court reporters machine.
