The high lite was the menu of cooked to order meals. Thank
you Uncle Sam. I had the turkey burger with Swiss cheese and caramelized onion most days. Dinner was pot roast or Grilled fresh Salmon. Or both ! |

Do you have to change your diet since the transplant?
Earlier this year we found my blood pressure was a bit high and colesterol was high too. So I've altered my diet; low salt and low saturated fat. No medication. Got a colesterol test last week and it's dropped by about 10%. The blood pressure has also dropped to reasonable levels too. I do miss my butter though! (But you do get used to the alternatives)

Diet changed mostly because I was not processing poisons my kidneys were at 2% activity. It was the 11th hour no options left Lost 30 pounds the first ten days after surgery. Pissing it all away 100 oz of water a day in and out every 30 minutes round the clock. Now I have gained 10 pounds back and hav to moderate my intake but it's hard because I have not felt this good is six years. My first treat in the third week in the Veterans Recovery Lodge was a $65 rib eye with a smoked marrow bone dinner with a martini with a note from the doctor. That was a one time thing as a reward from the med lab team.

Zed, same thing happened to me last year, but they put me on meds. Does seem to be working. I’d rather not take them tho. But, at age 60, maybe not much of a risk.

I wanted to try and make a difference without med's if possible. I need to go back to speak to the cardio specialist. To see what he thinks of the improvements.

ZED control the BP at all costs. I think that is what my base issue was 220/165 at one time.130/70 n9ow and slowly putting the 30 pounds I lost at surgery. And I got two sets of these cool jail togs. |

Well here is the suck ! Back in hospital after six weeks of lower leg pain. Saw all my doctor teams but none cloud tell me why.y PT guy took one look and said," Has to be blood clots." He did a sonagram on his own and sure enough I have cluster on the numb sleeping foot and the major artery has two giant blocks. Arterial surgeon want to do 33" artery by pass Monday next. That was mid week and then he took the holiday five day weekend off. Left me in hospital but this time the food sucks big time. I waited till midnight and went AWOL OUT YHE back door. Went home for Thanksgiving and have to be back 6:15AM for surgery Monday. Her it is Saturday and they haven't missed my body yet. Doubt they will. I just could not identify the yellow pancakes as eggs with out flavor. This is no small surgery, they take both arteries out and replace the blocked with the good remaining one. Six the eight hours. I'm just PO'ed they took six weeks of burning pain to Dee what a first year med student saw in two minutes.

Wow, that's a real bummer.
However at least you found this before one of the clots broke free and went walkabout. That would be nasty. Take care MJ and I wish you a speedy recovery. Please keep us upto date with your progress.
