I bought a No.4 Mk1 (no star! :D) with a Mk 3 back sight. That in itself isn't an issue, however, what is an issue is the target peep insert attached to it. Its a piece of metal that attaches through the original battle peep to fasten a much smaller one. Images included.
It prevents the cycling of the bolt when the ladder sight is up and that bothers me greatly. Any help on its removal would be absolutely wonderful.

That sounds like a DIY modification. I can't see how that would be much use except for one specific range; maybe someone's idea for a hunting sight.
How's it attached? Is it screwed in, or brazed/welded?

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

It looks like a two piece affair that through bolts through peep. If it is - neato !. If you have no use for it and want to part with it let me know. I've got a couple Enfields I'd like to try it on.

Bubba is an inventive little devil isn't he? Will the "nut" on the front unscrew allowing the peep to be removed?
