This thread is just to show my Ishapore. Bought it just before Christmas. Tested it only with dummy rounds ( parking lot buy, after internet offer ). Although it´s clearly marked "2A1" it has the 2.000 sight. Wood is, IMO, very beautiful, looks like polished Teak. Bolt is slick like ... an Enfield. ;-) I cleaned it, test fired at 20 m only until now. The original mag is numbered, but not to the gun. And looks bad. Holds 10 rounds, ok, I might squeeze in 11, but cannot seat on a closed bolt then. BTW, ANY Ishapore I could find in Europe offered for sale, including some which were chopped to "Jungle Carbine", has a 10 rd mag. So who says, the 12 rounders are the standard? Couldn´t verify this. I didn´t know this, when, immediately after buying the gun, I started looking for accessories, specially magazines. Especially 12 rounders. Nothing. Yes, Numrich ( now other name ) might have after market 10 rounders, but will not sell outside US anymore. Same story with ALL US companies! But there came help: GOOSIC! Praise! Goosic sent me a mag. Made it clever, so it went clear through customs - no hassle, no costs. THANKS!!!!!!!!! The mag is an aftermarket 10 rounder, I think, but might be Arsenal new. What I DO know is, that it sits supertight in the mag well, and functions perfectly! THANKS, Goosic! I already know, where to by Enfield parts. I already have the Holy Grail in hands: I got a Parker Hale No 5A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( Thanks to a member from another forum! ) Next step is grouping at 100 m with different ammo. See, what she likes. Get an appropriate front sight, so the rear sight is exactly "on"? Perhaps get a spare extractor spring for a rifle No 1 Mk III? And then, the decision: put the P - H on it, or get a Jungle carbine bubba´d Ishi, and put the P - H on that? ( -> Crocodile Dundee )( = longer sight line, like in a real No 5 ) Get another Ishi, which shoots good and isn´t as beautiful, and put the P - H on that and go Service rifle competition, and preserve my Beauty as it is? Forget about collector value, and get good wood rear stock and front forearm, and have the rifle with full lenght bbl and P - H peep sporterized? Thanks to all for their help, and SPECIAL THANKS TO GOOSIC! Hermann P.S.: did I say THANKS to GOOSIC?

P-H5A is a great sight! It will need a little individual fitting to the rifle. You need to bend the leg, or shim, or both, to get the wind arm level to the bore & not tilted Left<>Right. Its easy but individually needed. The PH5A's zero at 200Yds, you must do this if you want to use the vernier clicks instead of the yards scale ones or you'll end up in negative numbers which is annoying. You will need to do this with the 7.62 round as the PH is normally calibrated for the .303. If you need help with this just let me know.

Bayonet is there: its BEAUTIFUL! It looks like new! ( or arsenal refinished ). Fits the rifle, is unsharpened, all well. I´m happy. I don´t dig bayonets, it´s just to accompany the gun. Hermann |

Nothing to hold the bayonet on the belt. VERY surprisingly, something came along on online auction site:
bought it. € 9 ( S & H was more ) I don´t have it in my hands yet. Hermann |

All works well with that. But then THIS popped up on the Internet: What do you think of this? I bought it ( not cheap ), it´s on the way to me. I think I´ll want a Gibbs Carbine, with scope base installed, and perhaps another Ishi ( they seem to be addictive! ;-) ), and then decide, which sight to put on which rifle. Anybody has an Ishapore 12 rd mag to sell??? Hermann

I don't recognize it either! Nor can I find one like it in any of my files. Is there a makers name on it somewhere? There's a reason why the scabbard has a separate "belt loop" (called a "Frog")! the early long "sword" bayonets could also be carried attached to the side of the backpack, partly because they were so long it was not possible to Kneel while wearing them on the belt.

Wow! Thanks for the frog info … I always wondered …
Regarding the sight: I have NO idea. Seller doesn´t know also, it seems, says only: "like P H 5A, for SMLE, No 1 Mk III". But the curve on the body looks definitely No 1 Mk 3, and the disk is a target disk. It´s a gamble: if it fits, and is RARE, I come out well. If it doesn´t fit, I had bad Luck. I´ll look closely when it arrives. Any bet´s on it´s make? Regards, Hermann |

Its definitely for a No1 Mk III with that mount. Utterly wild guess! Khyber pass attempt at a peep sight & someone had heard of a P-H 5A? If so its kind of cool. |
