In Canada, the Crown owns indigenous lands, allowing them to govern them through treaties. The majority of tribes will follow the money and benefits, which I don't see a fledgling Western Republic willing to supply for no return. I do see the WR offering partnership in projects like mining, oil/gas on reservation land but that would replace current traditional federal goverment payments. Tribes that want to prosper will participate, but I suspect the majority will move to BC or east to Manitoba, Ontario or Quebec.

Most 1st nations leaders have expressed the opinion that if any separation within Canada happens - all bets are off & they will re-claim their territories.
Exaple: They own most of the land in Quebec. (Thats probobly why Que hasn't separated.) Look what happened @ Oaka..they outgunned the police & military! They won't stand for it |

No offense Hoadie, but I don't consider Quebec to be in the same league as Alta. and Sask. if it came to handling a rebellion. Oka was all aboot smuggling contraband from the US to reserves in Canada. Nothing noble aboot that as a RCMP officer was killed. Shamu. Canada has 1.8 mm indigenius (40% of that number is Metis [native and white] which a lot of full blooded Native Canadians don't particularly like) which is 5% of Canadas population. Combined, Alta and Sask has around 450 k. I suspect a good number would end up in Vancouver, BC.

Yes, the natives were using the fact that their reserve straddled the border to smuggle cheap cigarettes into Canada but the main cause of the dispute was developers wanting to expand the golf course from 9 holes to 18 holes and build 60 condominiums adjacent to the tribe's traditional burial ground.
