Hi, can anyone tell me the Model of my Enfield? Made by BSA, all numbers matching.I have several pics of markings I can provide. Looking for a more expert opinion. Is this a variant of a No.1 Mrk III ?
![]() Here is a pic with a lot of markings. I've found some but not others

What is stamped on the wristsocket under the bolt handle?
You have either a No1Mk111 or No1Mk111* that has been, "Sporterized."

The only thing stamped on the clamp or band around the stock is "B.S.A Co". The bolt knob has markings on it and the disc on the stock is marked S.A.A.F with a number I can't read

from the pics I'd say a No1 MkIII* The Volley sights, & magazine cutoff are not present. The handguards (top wood) are also gone. The "U" (broad arrow)? "->" stamps might be "Union of South Africa" property marks. & the Brit civilian proofs (crown over BNP) Birmingham Proof House stamps, mean sold into the civilian market in the U.K.

Thanks for the response. Was it sporterized possibly by BSA or did a lot of companies get their hands on these and change the stock? It looks to be the original stock with the brass butt plate and stamped disc on the stock but I know nothing about these rifles and just picked this one up.

That is more likely than not to have been sporterized by a previous owner.

Most were done by "Bubbah" on the kitchen table ![]() There were places doing "sporter conversions" of various qualities though, notably "Gibbs Arms Co", Not to be confused With "F.W. Gibbs & co." "Navy Arms" was another & "Santa Fe" a third. |

Yes probably BSA Commercial. BUT No guarantee it wasn't sold as original full stock military configuration & then sported later. Such rifles were a standard option from the factory at the time! My, slightly dubious, evidence of this conjecture is the possible The "U" (broad arrow)? "->" stamp on the breech.
