The muzzle of the .22 RF tube was a bit "snaggly" so I decided to clean it up a little.
Used the old "valve grinding paste on a round headed brass bolt trick, Chief!"Big smile
Aided & abetted by a chuck-equipped power screwdriver because I thought a power drill might be too aggressive or fast. I ran a few oiled patches through first & then a loose .22 cleaning rod tip with another oiled patch. Stopped just shy of the actual muzzle.

Locked the tube in place by closing & locking the bolt. Then removed the locking hut so all I was grinding was the actual muzzle.
Ran for about a minute each way & then pushed the patch/tip out from the breech end followed by about half a dozen oiled then dry patches.
I didn't want to remove a lot of metal or try any kind of false muzzle, just to smooth up the ends of the lands & a couple of dings.
I think it worked pretty well myself.

BEFORE (from inside with a bore-scope)

AFTER external macro ring-flash:

That's not rust (the brown patches), but some odd digital photography artifact. The nosecap is actually nicely blued.
Next time I'm going to experiment with barrel tension! It made a big difference to both accuracy & POI with the DW pistol & this is a similar system, but with a longer whippier thinner barrel!

What borescope are you using? It looks like a good quality image.
I expect the job will increase accuracy.Thumbs Up
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

Would you believe the "Super el-Cheoponar, Teslong" It works with any USB, camera ready computer!
If yours isn't camera ready you have to download the (free) drivers from the website.
As-is its for .22, but you can obviously slide it into any bigger bore. The sell as an accessory set, 5 mirrors for larger common diameters cheaply, well worth getting.

Wished you lived closer Shamu, I’d use my Manson carbide crowning tool.  Uses an expanding arbor and a 11 deg cutter (also have the 0 deg flat cutter). Let’s see it this did the trick first.

looks really good to me , ive not had a morris tube to compare to for years , but my memory of it was it had a little ruff , i doubt these were treated very well in the days of service use , we all know the cleaning kit they used and were trained to use

I have never seen a morris tube in the flesh so to speak, only pictures and writeups, I do however have a few .23 long and .23 short centrefire rounds, no headstamp but lead bullet and copper case for morris aiming tube.
Seeing your post did set my mind in inquisitive mode as how our British firearms laws would cope.
We need a variation on our firearms certificate even to purchase a new/separate barrel.
So we would potentially have a rifle calibred in 303 downsized to .22 using a morris tube which has its own entry on your firearms certificate, much like purchase of a moderator.

I'm not sure any more, I left England back in the 70's & so much has changed since then.
I'd assume (yeah, I knowStar) it would be treated similarly to the shotgun inserts for reducing to 12 to 20 bore or .410 ?
Confused
It also has its own dedicated bolt, rim-fire bolt head, with offset striker pin & empty magazine she!! for catching empties.
Maybe that would make it different?

so many regulations , not sure how one keeps track , glad i dont have to think about that - got enough here to think on ,

your morris tube is a really nice looking setup , in addition to making my own insert for one of my M1903s i also had one fitted with a conversion similar to that for my M1903A3-4gery

Glad I read this before starting a thread asking the very same question.  Interestingly, I just ordered both from their website and the total cost including shipping was almost half of what the borescope itself is worth here in Australia.

Wow! that makes it a good deal as long as you don't  ind the shipping times.
Trick for you when it arrives.
The focus is adjusted for different bore sizes by screwing in, or unscrewing the head till its sharp. The smaller the bore the more you unscrew it & vice versa. I do this in the muzzle end because its easier to set up that way.
I also use one of those conical "muzzle protectors" that come with many cleaning kits at the breech end when actually scoping. It acts as a guide for the probe, rather than it wobbling all over the place. I just leave it on the optic for storage.

The 10% off code helped.  Shipping was $15 US and seemed to show a fairly quick delivery time, which makes me wonder if they are drop shipping them out of Asia or have stock in Australia that they can call on.  Amazon Australia has them listed, as do other gun stores here in Aus.

Thanks for the tips.  I had read about the focal length on the mirrors.  I'm both excited and nervous to see what is lurking in the barrels of both my shooters and my collectables...
