Hi Guys,
I have scored myself a bottle of Winchester WAP1 powder - problem is I haven't got load tables for it nor can I find any in the internet.
Does anyone have load tables for WAP1 or do you know where I can find them? Dosen't matter for what calibres - I have several to choose from.

I have load data for Winchester WAP but in America I don't think we ever had a WAP1. Winchester WAP is the same powder as Ramshot Silhouette but I'm not sure about WAP1. WAP is a handgun powder called "Winchester Action Pistol".

Hi John,
According to Winchester - the WAP1 and WAP are the same - the WAP1 only indicated a 1 lb canister!
I've found out the following from, supposidly, Winchester #15 manual:
.45 ACP 230gn
Start 6.6 = 845fps @ 16,600 PSI
7.3 Max = 915 FPS @ 19,600 PSI
9 x 19mm 115gn FMJ
Start 5.3 = 1,055 FPS @ 27,200 PSI
6.0 Max = 1,155 FPS @ 33,100 PSI
If anyone has other load data for this powder, I'd be very pleased to get it. I'd like to see what rifle loads I can use it on.

More info: supposedly, the WAP is the same as Ramshot Silhouette. However, I can’t get through to the Ramshot web page for their data – maybe they are down! |

I remember when WAP first came out. It was either slightly slower or slightly faster than the powder Winchester used in 9x23. Ramshot Silhouette is either the exact same powder or the version that Winchester used in factory loaded ammunition. I once spoke to an engineer that worked for Winchester and the powders have basic "SMP" numbers that are used when they are sold to ammunition companies. When Ramshot first published load data the first load guide mirrored Winchester powders for many Ramshot powders. The second edition had loads that were way off. The Winchester load data is mild. Ramshot claims to have updated their faulty load data but I've only tried a bit of it. Some of the newer load guides from the bullet makers have some WAP and Silhouette load data.

From the most recent Ramshot load guide.
9mm Luger (9x19) 115gr JHP - 5.3gr - 6.0gr 124gr JHP - 4.9gr - 5.6gr 147gr JHP - 4.1gr - 4.5gr 45 ACP 185gr JHP - 8.9gr - 9.9gr 200gr FMJ - 7.6gr - 8.4gr 230gr FMJ - 7.3gr - 8.1gr The load data that is the same as Winchester is very mild. See the 230 grain 45 ACP load where Ramshot has made some adjustment. It looks like 9mm didn't change in new guide. Are these the only caliber you are interested in? I may be able to find other data. I remember the Winchester load data was pretty wimpy. |

Hi John
Thanks for that - I was really interested in seeing if I could use it in rifle loads (eg reduced loads etc).
Calibres I am interested in are:
25/303 (beautiful calibre).
6.5 x 55 Swede
.308Win
.303 Brit.
and
.357Mag.
