Went to an antique shop and found this,"Military WW1/WW2? Trench Art Letter Opener $5.95 Firm!" on consignment.
I found the owner and tried explaining what it was, only to be asked,"ya gonna buy it or what?" I opened my wallet and showed him three dollars and two nickels. As soon as I got home I disassembled it,cleaned it, lightly polished the metal, did some bluing touch up,and put it back together. You can barely make out the No4 MkII N67 but it is there. The interesting thing here is the machine marks on the back side of it. They are a crisp as they were when it was just made. I used my bore scope and found no marks indicating that it was ever used. On a side note. The mail came today and this letter opener sucks. Shredded the envelope...

You know, I came in here fully expecting some neat letter opener. I should know better by now. You have some pretty good luck.

I do have pretty good luck as far as bayonets go. I wish that my luck would land me,oh I don't know, maybe a Trials Rifle or a DCRA converted No4 to 7.62 at some point in time however...😎

The best part of the sale was dealing with owner. The man looked to have been born close to 1847. He was dressed like an old gold protector and tried to sell me a solid gold horseshoe as well. Some of the gold paint on the horseshoe rubbed off on my hand. He was just there to get rid of all of his stuff. He has a Jackalope that he guaranteed is GenUwine all original and will include the board its nailed to free of charge...
