Hi All, I thought that I would update everyone who had previously showed interest when I had first inquired about this rifle that was available to me for sale. I finally saved up enough pennies and pulled the trigger on buying the rifle. I am overall very happy with it, even came with an authentic trapdoor style sling. I have attached photos for everyone to take a look. I don't know a lot about these rifles, but would appreciate any further input, thanks! |

i thought so and it should be a great rifle , the fact that it carry's the remington LEE name is not automatically accepted into the lee enfield crowd , but i did always want one back when i was a US collector , these are not so readily found and in good condition very desirable , much like that pesky M1917 that really is a redheaded step child these were second cousins to the krag ,
the navy used them in china pre WWII and they are a significant arm in the US collection in my mind , i actually sought one out right before i decided to divest my US collection to increase my commonwealth holdings , i spent the money on the no1 mkV i once owned that now resides with a great collector here ,

i think the 20 on top of the buttplate would be a rack number , as stated these served the china navy pre-war IIRC , congrats on this fine example ,

’A square 10’ - If my research and Ian from “Forgotten Weapons” serve me correctly, the earlier model 1882 and 1885 Remington Lee’s were contracted for China. The 1899 did not see large production. Most of the rifles were sent to Michigan for the Nat Guard and then Cuba.
