import mark is terribly faded, or very lightly stamped,
looks more like a NJ at the end, wondering if it was a Navy Arms import?

This is slightly clearer, and the close ups of the action area have good shots of the adjacent wood.
I am pretty sure that that mark on the charger bridge base is J J NY NY, which is J Jovino, in which case the problem is solved.I also noted that the screws holding the nose cap on have black painted heads, while everything else is phosphated. Another red flag. DocAitch
