So I recently picked up a 1950 Long Branch No4 Mk1* in great condition with matching numbers and now I wwant to pick up a period correct LB bayonet to go with it. From the research I have done and reading Ian Skennerton's books, the No4 Mk2 would be the correct bayonet. If anyone has one for sale I'd be very interested. Cheers,

Period correct and "As Issued" are two different but relative terms. The bayonet for your rifle is whatever it was issued with. Period correct for a rifle made in 1950 would put you closer to a 1947 No4 Mk111 bayonet.
That being said though, I have a Long Branch No4 MkII that has both the LB and Canadian Arsenal stamp on the bayonet, a No4 Mk1 scabbard with a Canadian Arsenal stamp on it, and a frog dated 1944 also with a Canadian Arsenal stamp. This particular setup appears to never have been issued to a rifle. No wear marks of any noticable kind and the thumb release and plunger look too good to ever have been used as well. PM me for the particulars. From top to bottom. ...And then, there is this bad boy. The No7MkI/L swiveling pommel bayonet. It was made for the Bren machine gun but fits on a No4Mk1 as well and was used on the No4Mk1 during parades mostly...

Bren or Sten? Either way don't go shooting with it fixed, they had a problem & were restricted to "Land Use" (read parade ONLY).
