All,
My readings lead me to believe there is a benefit of having one of these in Enfields. Is this a practical upgrade? Better reinforcement for holding the forestock in place? If so, how does one find the materials to install one?

I don’t think so. In addition to being a front trigger guard screw, it also provides a rotating sling swivel. Parker Hale made them for SR(b) competition shooting to allow use of a UK NRA regulation sling.

It is not practical and no added benefits for holding the forestock in place. Unless you intend to do alot of target shooting, where having that type of King screw with a swiveling sling loop would benefit the shooter during competition, it is not worth the going market price. I have one original King Screw with the swiveling sling loop on my Faux L8A5T and have yet to actually use it as it was intended to be used. I have four of the Parker Hale version and have one of those installed on another and, have yet to use it for its intended purpose. Save yourself some money and forego buying one...

I have them on all my Lee Enfields. There is no "additional hardware" needed you simply unscrew the existing bolt & install the 3rd swivel keeper. There are several versions be advised. I prefer the angled one that will not rotate 360° because it has a shorter pillar preventing that which can tangle the sling. If you combine them with a 3-point sling, like the "ChingSling" they are a big help. They do not offer any better securing of the forend though, that's not the purpose of them. Video here: |
