The 6.5x55 has the same rimless design as the 308/7.62 and almost directly between the 260 Rem and 257 Roberts. Fitting a 2A1 magazine to a No4 is a very simple process and getting the 6.5x55 to feed should not be an issue. Polish the feed ramp and it becomes less of an issue.

Goosic, that sounds correct. However, I’m talking about cartridge length. 6.5 is similar to OCL of a 303; a 308 cartridge is smaller than both. Do you see a potential issue with this or do you think it could work?

If you will be handloading your 6.5x55, seat your bullets to 2.850" instead of the normal 2.900" C.O.L. most reloading data calls for as a maximum C.O.L..

You could also do it in 6.5 Creedmore, which is my plan. It's a .308 based cartridge so it will fit and work fine using a 7.62 magazine without any worries, and should leave you plenty of room for long bullets.

I believe it will be ok, just be careful because according to my Lyman reloading manual the 6.5x55 has a maximum cartridge length of 3.150 inches long. I have a box of PPU 139 grain spbt factory ammunition and they are about the same length as the .303 British factory ammunition (I can’t find my calliper at the moment so I don’t know the exact length) so you should be fine as long as the factory load you are using doesn’t exceed 3.075 inches. From left to right; .303 British, my own wild cat 6.5x303R Canadian and the 6.5x55 Swede. |

No problem this time, just trying to make sure seller gets in touch with the most buyers.
