I would rather have a semi auto .303 because it would use the same ammo as my Enfields. The ones in Canada where they made them are very complicated to import. I tried to get a couple of them however the PALs up there prefer not to involve themselves &/or their stores in the costly & complicated process. Even tried to work one through Cabala's who has stores here & there. I'm sure as always one will happen.

The Globco modified SVT-40 have been known by various users to be either unreliable or just down right not usable with commercial or factory loads. The flipside to that is the users who have had no known issues. Either or, it is a user beware issue. I personally do not know of any for sale but I also have not looked for one. You can try GunBrokers or Armlist...

My short Enfield has no flash hider nor is it 'sporterized'. It has full stock wood covering the barrel with regular front sight & bayonette lug with 3 sling mounts front middle & butt plate is the same as the fullsized one.

My next choice would be a Remington Model 8 or 81 in .35 Rem because they were the 'real' BAR with the long recoil cycle that my 'whale' has (humpback A5 12GA). After that would be a Belgium Browning .308 with a .308 Bulldog like my ATI 12GA pup which now is up to 15 lbs with the RI19, Carry Handle/ Sight & defuse-able spotlight foregrip. If it's lit it's hit.

Your,"Shorty" is a highly,"Modified" No4Mk2 that was not done at the Enfield factory originally.  The barrel, the forend, and part of the front handguard have been cutdown after the fact to make a so called,"Tanker." If you are referring to a U with a Broad Arrow inside of it, that is just a South African acceptance stamp. A FYI about the striker in the full cocked position. It would be alot better on the main spring if you were to leave the cocking piece in the fired postion.
Just as a side note.  If this is what you were referring to as a MKIV. It is not. It is a No4Mk2, pronounced "Number Four Mark Two...

Thanks, there's a '54 BREN on REAL GUNS for L545 Pounds. They are about the size of my 'whale'. I'll put a dead round in the uncocked breech once all this nonsense is exposed for what it is. Until then make no mistake we are at war so stay vigilant not 'killeried' ~ Dan

Have fun with that one pard. If that rifle in your photo is loaded and in the fire position? Make no mistakes about this. It is just a matter of when, not if as to when it will fire that loaded round. And you won't have to be there when it happens. Keeping that thing cocked while loaded and while not is use is as absurd as a game of Russian Roulette with a fully loaded revolver.  Accidentally bounce that rifle really good on its buttstock and hope your head is not in-line with the muzzle...

Not sure who we are at war with, but I would never keep a cocked or loaded weapon in the house. But I'm in Canada, and we have pretty strict storage laws.

I own a Globco Mohawk 555. It shoots reliably using only 150 grain SP hunting rounds. The previous owner used it for a short while to harvest deer. Since I have owned it, it has never failed to fire or eject she!! casings. I keep the gas tube clean. It's not for sale at the present time.

Apart from anything else its hard on the striker spring.
That's why there was an "Ease Springs" command. But NEVER on a loaded chamber that's a grenade with the pin pulled.
