I inherited this from my father-in-law.
I don't know much about it, but would like to repair and complete a restore. Need front sight bead Rear sight and sight screws butt plate and spring. This appears to be a carbine as the furniture doesn't extend to cover most of the barrel. Pics show the following markings No4 MK 1/3 (F) FTR /51.85C2904 S No4 Mk1 U.S. Property (top of barrel towards the breech) England

What you have is a Savage made No4Mk1 that was FTR'd (Factory Thorough Repaired) and upgraded to have the trigger hung from the butt socket/wrist. The factory furniture has been cutdown into a sporterized configuration as well as the barrel looks to have been cutdown past the bayonet lugs. If the full length of the barrel is still intact, you have a perfect candidate for returning it to its original appearance.

the photo may not be showing the full barrel length. Close the bolt and insert a cleaning rod (carefully) from muzzle end into the barrel until the rod hits the bolt head. Mark the cleaning rod at the end of the muzzle and remove the rod. Measure the length of the cleaning rod to the mark, if it is 25 1/4 inches, you have a full length barrel which should include the front sight base (pinned to the barrel), sight protector and front sight blade.

Fourth photo does seem to indicate end of barrel may have been cut, lugs for front sight base and bayonet don’t appear…

Commuter05.
If it were my rifle. I would invest in a rear Mk1 micrometer sight and a Remington front ramp sight. Have a gunsmith mount the sights accordingly and you're Golden...
