I have a barrel for my No1 MkIII project. I was told by the seller it is Australian, which it appears to be. It has a bunch of markings. Could somebody help me decipher them? Thanks!
Left side. Right side. Lots of stars with letters and numbers. |

Oh, I hadn't thought of that. I figured the '44 was for a year, but thought 7 might have been a month. Thanks

7 44 is the date - nothing to do with the ammo
It is a Lithgow made barrel - markings are proof / inspection markings

Got it. Thanks! Were all of the proof/inspection markings put on at the time of initial barrel manufacture/installation or were some put on at a later time? There sure are a lot of them. Lol
