I happened to find a batch of 168grn .312" FMJBT's recently. I have been researching a safe starting/minimum charge weight using VihtaVuori N540 up to a maximum charge and have come to the decision that a minimum of 40.1 to a maximum of 42.5 will keep me in that safe "Golden Zone." The calculated FPS for the minimum should be 2390 and the maximum should be 2585.
Setting the OAL to 3.085" will keep the rounds .084" from the rifling while maintaining safe tolerances for the chamber pressures and assisting in better than normal accuracy. If this round works as anticipated, I believe I may have found the accuracy/target round the venerable Lee-Enfield has needed for a long while...

They were in a box marked 7.62 ×54R. There's only 100 of them but, they all weigh between 168.2 through to 169.4.
The box was part of a group of items that are sold second-hand at my local gunshop...
