thank you in advance for any help you provide in this venture.

i recently aquired my first .303 as a christmas present. i found a date of 1915 stamped on it and lots and lots of other markings stamed into it, the sights on this particular rifle are what i assume are sniper style sights as the rear sight has adjustments for distance and windage and is a flip up type sight. again if anyone can assist me with identifying this rifle and possibly tracing its lineage i really would appreciate it.
thank you again,

techmo

Would it be possible for you to post a few pictures of the rifle markings?  From the sounds of it, you have No.1 Mk.III.  But, without pictures, it's hard to say for sure.

If you need help posting pictures, just drop me a line. eric@enfield-rifles.com

I must warn you, once you are bitten with the Enfield bug, you can never quite get rid of it!!

thanks for posting, Merry Christmas.

Eric
