Hi...I have recently got my hand on a Enfield Savage No.4 dated MkI....1942 with the initials DP engraved on the wooden butt side...it has various numbers stamped and also U.S.Property stamped on the top plate where the battle sight may have been....(this is missing)...it has been deactivated by the Birmingham Proof House but i was wondering if there was anywhere i could find out the history of this Enfield.......Can anyone help???

I have also a Bayonet with No.4 MKII...the holder has No.4 MKI stamped on it

Also inside the butt plate a brass container with screw top......

Thanks

Andrew......

Rifles were issued, but not tracked.  The only way to get a "history" of the rifle would be if one came with it.
