Great stuff Dave. Get em cleaning the rifles after they use them . Gives them a sense of resposibility.

I already have the kids reloading & cleaning their own Rifles & I get Ev to reload my work .223 ammo! It was his big brother that I was having trouble with ! He decided that going back up to QLD to live with his father was a far better career option than having to live under my roof & live with the Basic rules of respect your elders ,your Mother & that your only a little cog in the big wheel of things (I had a little "Talk" with him & he realised that ,some people have a use by date if they sh*t me ! & his was almost expired !) I've got a couple of promiseing young shooters from outside at the moment ! Mind you we have'nt told their parents that their driving round the paddocks with a 13 yr old driving yet & they've been out shooting ! I'll cross that bridge tomorrow !

Well Dave if any of them would be mine I would not have a problem, but you know how some people can be? When children come over to my house mostly my son Boogies friends they are going to be exposed to shooting and most of them are coming over just for that. and thier parents know and only let because im here to over look them and teach them the safety aspects. when you have a kid that just wont watch were his muzzle is pointed, well thats when you get you a mellon the size of a human head and let the kid shoot it . man you see their eyes light up and they realize how much damage that little projectile does, i also show them the damage on the deer we kill during the hunting season
This morning I had 4 kids hunting with me and a buddy of mine, one of the kids was his step son we call him Bait Shrimp he is 8 years old and he sat in the stand with his step dad Brad. but they didnt stay long Bait Shrimp got his feet wet on the way to the stand. Me I stood about 40 to 50 feet from the canal and only seen a but load of Wood Ducks, must have been about 30 Wood Ducks swiming in the canal. Well maybe we will get lucky tomorrow morning, the kids are going to make an evening hunt but i cant do that,Safety reason and lead by example, i will be drunk by then, going to go up front by Unks house and smoke some more deer meat. I know it aint enough with these little carnavourse running around here!

Well ! The Hurcombe House Hold has now gone back to some form of normality (as normal as it gets round here ) The boys had the time of their lives ! One of them comes from a house of Antis & his mother had a slight stroke today when her son arrived home complete with a empty .44 mag case that he'd fired yesterday ! She was worried he may refill it & use it again ! I'm glad I did'nt seat a bullet init for him ! The Enfields were a big hit with them ! 303, 303 -25 & 303-270 !

Deadset there has to be something wrong with a teenage lad that dosnt want to go out bush and have a shoot.
Sure beats the playstation. The only reason why hunting and shooting isnt very popular with people from around my area is that the government makes it difficult to get involved, and bieng city dwellers its hard to find somewhere to do said hunting and shooting unless you know someone who does. The mother is probably some hippy bloody pinko. Initially when I went to get my firearms licence my mother (im still living with my parents) didnt really want me keeping firearms here..... but she came around eventually. The fact that i mentioned that she had done pistol training when she was a bank teller back in the day helped my cause, and she has the utmost trust in my not doing anything stupid like obliterating a myna bird sitting on the back fence with the 95gr accutip rounds i have for my rifle. In the end i went for a gucci new rifle with optics and all, but my paperwork is in to acquire a No1 Mk111 so 4 to 6 weeks from now i could be clutching onto my very own enfield! |

My mum grew up in a poor family on a farm in the depression and she and her brothers were responsible for putting meat on the table.
She can shoot better than most blokes and is a dab hand at setting rabbit traps and snares, not to mention being able to track a bull ant over bitumen.
She can still clean the game just as well as most blokes too.
She has always been happy to see the family get involved in shooting and still takes her part with the shotgun.
Now she is seeing my 6 year old learn to shoot and she enjoys every minute of it.
