I purchased a 2A a few years ago. The Indians had basically painted all of the metal with the equivelent of black paint you would use on plastic models. From what I have read that is a fairly common treatment for rifles in a country where labor is cheap and the rifle is going to be in a rack most of the time. I took it apart and had a guy do a black Cerakote on all of the metal. as most of the metal is hidden behind wood it should be well protected.

I know, old thread, but I just joined the forum.
I got my first 2A about 12 years ago. It’s turned into one of my favorites. Just picked up another 2A1 that has been “sportized”. Fortunately, nothing was cut other than the lower stock. Between Sarco and Numrich, I was able to find all the bits to bring it back to original. After poking around, it likes both vendors have pretty good selections.

If you can't stand the answer, don't ask the question.
It's easier to get forgiven then it is to get permission. |
