Hi to all from Australia.

Just found your site and Joined up,I am the proud owner of a 1947 MkV "Jungle Carbine ( I have another on lay by also)& an Mk 4 (I think!) .22 caliber trainer both in great condition.
Plus a heap of Bayonets,(will post pics soon).
Oh! also got about 13 guitars, from Ovation acoustic, Backlund Rocker Box, Aria Pro 2, Fender Strat 50th anniversary model, Maton acoustic (Aussie made, check out Tommy Emmanuel an Aussie guitarist).

Any way thanks for having me & keep your powder dry (as my old man would say).

I hope to soak up fresh ideas and pass on any info that I can as it's no use taking it to the grave.
I say pass it on to the next generations.
Take care you all.

I know what I like & like what I know.

welcome - glad you have joined us , you will learn a lot here reading new and old posts will help ,

im gonna play tony since he has passed on - you need to use correct nomenclature , i think what you have is a no5 rifle [jungle carbine] , if you have a mkV you have an earlier trials rifle that is somewhat rare , no flames on this site and certainly not from me but it helps to get the right wording down to get the best info in response , besides we want you to become an enfield educated owner and all of us will help ,

Hi or should I say G'Day Mate
yep, am from Cowra NSW.

Where the breakout of the internment camp happened in 1945 August.
Yep the Japanese did a runner on a very cold August am.
The Italians stayed in bed & the Indonesians just watched the show, while dodging the 303's that were flying about.
I have a shotgun that I inherited from my father, a Hollis that was used by Alf Bourke (who lived just out o town near a rail-track that the escapees were following) to kill a couple of the escapees. That they(he was out with his son) came across that morning whilst hunting rabbits.
Yep, I have an MKV jungle carbine 1947 model and an 1917 .22 caliber Enfield trainer.(both all original numbers matching both with excellent bores).
Got another MKV jungle carbine on lay-by (matching numbers, magazine, bolt, barrel, bore excellent) etc.
Also my father in-law was in New Guinea during serving during the war as an engineer repairing all sorts of things from what he told me from Motorbikes to guns, trucks, basically anything that broke he was fixing.
He gave my father a gun book (back in the 60's) as my father was a gun & pistol dealer at the time, he used in the war about fixing & maintaing war weapons, well guess what it included Enfieds 303's and would you believe it I married his youngest daughter,so the book stays in the family.
Drop in some day on your way.
Just let me know
I know what I like & like what I know.
