im positive of it. I happen to know the guy that sold it to my father years ago. Hes an old country boy. He didnt care much about preservation and had told me that when his dad bought it for him back in the early 50s ish. That it was just pulled out of a barrel ful of enfields that was in a hardware store. .  Also that all hes ever done was sand and refinish the stock so it fit him better and he doesnt remember the top hand guard and that he probibly just tossed it. Smh .   Again thank you all for the info  as im very curious all the stampings all over this thing and am going to be getting a more correct stock for it  once i know a bit more etc...

"Y" is the prefix, but when imported into the U.S. years later the required "ENGLAND" import stamp was shove in between the prefix letter & the numbers.

In regards to the serial numbers I mentioned above on my carbine, would anyone have any idea what the CC prefix means? Thanks!

A correct stock set for that rifle is becoming extremely rare nowadays and the pricing has adjusted itself to correspond to that. The last original stock set for a No5Mk1 i saw on eBay sold for $585.00 USD.
Boyd's Stocks make some very nice aftermarket stock sets for the Enfield for about $125.00.
If everything on your rifle is still intact, including the flash hider then yes, I would recommend bringing the rifle back to its original configuration.  If however,  the rifle has been modified such as the flash hider has had the sight protectors cut off as well as the bayonet lug. Finding a replacement for that is damn near impossible. This is where you would pick and choose your battle.
Leave it alone or spend alot of time and money on it...

During the production process they would start with one letter of the alphabet and keep going to Z. After which they went to AA then AB and so on.
Your rifle was the next batch after the CB prefix was completed.

Id say its never been modified except i know the guy sanded the stock to his liking. Other than that its never been modified. As its not a musem piece by any stretch and has had some rust issues in the past ill probobly just get a repro. And let it be at that. And at some point im going to see if i can bring back some of the electro stenciling if it wont hurt anything to do so. Its just a working piece of history im trying to preserve so future generations an apreciate it as i do.

Is it fairly common to find a No5 in walnut, or was that the standard stock for the furniture? Thanks!

Totally agree with A square.  Numrich actually has a handguard for sale along with the retaining ring and a barrel band
