Springfield stopped production around serial number 775,000 to develop a new heat treatment. When they began production with the new double heat treatment they began at serial number 800,000. (The M1903 Springfield Rifle and its Variations, Joe Poyer, pg 181-182) So my M1903 has a safe receivers
