hey dave, on the subject of cleaning rifles, handguns.. i used to work with a bloke by the name of stuart smith..hes a handgun nut and shoots comp all over oz(so he told me).. now we got into an arguement at work one day and he swore black and blue that hanguns shoot better when theyre not cleaned! argued the point that the gun oil in the barrel throws off to somewhat degrees in the trajectory of the projectile.. true blue! he shoots a .454 casoul revolver(check spelling) with a 10 inch barrel. i had a shot of this once, i took him to meet the farmer here on the highlands MARULAN (goulburn area) where i shoot and holy crap i near snapped me thumb off when she went bang!!!!! s**T me jocks too!

I can tell you that my Winchester 1400 12 Ga, gives me kittens since I cleaned it! Doesn't cycle worth a damn, if your shootin 2 or 3.
It was FFFIIILLLTTTHHHYYYY! inside. Now it's so clean, it don't work right! Now I take my 870 20 ga (pump) up to camp this time of year.I trust it morethan the 12 ga, right now - specially since the bears will be sniffin around the camp now.(I intend to cook LOTS of smokey bacon -with the windows open - this weekend). Gee - I sure hope the critters don't give me a hard time. lol Hoadie |

About the only firearm I 'd clean everyday after use are my .22lrs ! If
I'm not going to use a firearm for several days /weeks then the barrel
gets oiled & then I swab out the barrel before I use it again !also
firearms that are going to sit idle for a while get pulled out of the
safe about 4days latter & cleaned again then reoiled .AS Barrels
tend to sweat & there is sometimes fouling that is missed .My .44
mags are a bitch as I use only cast bullets & there always seems to
be a little leading no matter how carefull one is.

Hey Dave - just a thought (if THATS possible) I have 2 gun safes.Course - there in the basement where temp is usually cooler.Anyway,a while back I tossed a couple bags of silica gel (like the stuff they pack in the box with your electonic gizmos). It kept everything very dry.So now I got 2 bags in each safe. You might wanna try that.Seems to eliminate the sweating problem.

Anytime ole bud.(I've already prepared the bill - I'll post it tomorrow!) Oh - I answered the PM.Take a look. Hey Allan, one thing I found bout WD 40.It has past it's prime.Newer & better seems to have come along.I use a product called DEEP LUBE.Goes on the same way as WD, but what a diff. When you get into the cold & damp, it doesn't gum up. When your out in the freezin rain is REALLY when it shows its stuff. The ice don't stick.Seems to have a better range of temps. & it's made from different stuff. I gotta find a way to get a can to ya.
