Picked up 8 lbs of a new powder made by Winchester in the US. It’s a ball powder with a burn rate similar to Varget. Supposed to be insensitive to temperature changes, which is interesting for a double based powder.
Hodgdon has load data for it on their website for .303 and .308 Win (as well as many other cartridges). Max for .303 British is 42.8 gr with 174 gr Sierra MatchKing, Muzzle Velocity 2509 fps, 47,100 psi. I plan to first test this in my AR .223. The nice thing about ball powder is that it measures very consistently. And since it’s made in the US, hopefully will be readily available. ![]() |

Oh I do hope so. ![]() From what I've been told 748BR is no more, in reality its just H335 rebranded & I had endless trouble with H335 in the .303 so I won't use it. |
