My nickname round the Traps over here is "TURK" which I was christerned
years ago by another shooter! It origanialy started as Hurc the Turk
& was shortened to Turk ! Why this was done & how it started I
have never found out it was just one of those things! It seems to be a
part of Australian culture to add a The to everything ie Alice springs
is Known as "the Alice" Port Augusta is "the Port" Nick names become a
full title .....The Turk,Larry the jew, The Orical,Emal the Poof ! (he
isn't he just speacks with very well dictioned english)

My wife's last name was "cook" & she can't! You wouldn't believe the names she has for me !
My handle "Hoadie" goes back a long way.Back in the 70's - I was pretty Klutzy. My best bud @ the time was always sayin:" oh Hoad -you dink!" when I'd screw up, tripover the blue line, drop stuff- whatever.Even when we had the band - after a song would be finished - if I had screwed up he'd say -right over the mike - Hoad-you dink! then we'd go onto the next song.Eventually, it got shortened to HOADIE, & thats what most people know me as.You wouldn't believe the number of people who have NEVER heard of George Hoad-dunno who he is - but they know HOADIE !
