As some of you are aware, I have a No4Mk2 with a PH scope mount assembly using the dovetail mount and corresponding PH RALS 3 rings. The dogbone mounts are getting rather hard to come by and I've been researching an alternative Weaver/Picatinny mount setup. I just happened to stumble upon a flatbased Picatinny scope mount for a Marlin 336A the other day and decided to see how it would match up to the Parker Hale scope base. I had to drill one extra hole to get it to mate up but, I now have a very reliable back up in case something were to happen to my current arrangement. The last photo shows the dogbone dovetail mount for comparison...

There`s always alternatives, if one just goes looking. How does the 336 mount compared to the LE, line up with the centre of the bore, considering possible receiver width differences?

Disregard my last, I now see you`re only changing the rail and not the mount...
